“I feel like I’m always searching for something.”
Wow. I’m not big on animation and usually stay away from most animated films, but for some reason I’ve been interested in this style for a while now. I tried watching a few anime shows but couldn’t really get into any of them, so I thought I’d give films a chance instead, and I think I chose the perfect ‘first’ to get started. I had absolutely no expectations for it and yet it left me in awe with its story and beyond beautiful visuals. It was surprising to see how much it was able to convey within such a charming story; themes of loneliness, yearning, and longing that were so carefully sprinkled throughout every little detail. The romance and fantasy aspects of it perfectly blended it all together, making for a touching but heartbreaking watch.
It’s sort of mesmerizing to watch. I honestly don’t think I’m able to fully put into words exactly how it made me feel but it was definitely needed.
