This movie is a damn masterpiece that I underrated like a moron when I first saw it. No amount of expository dialogue can spoil the sheer joy of watching McConaughey catch the spin of that spaceship while Hans Zimmer gets me all hot and bothered just before that guaranteed emotional break I have at the realization that my dad is gone and I wish he could come back.
Watching Logan Lucky, the lackluster return to the movie theater for Steven Soderbergh, who "retired" a couple years back, I couldn't help but think of the moronic charisma of characters created by Joel and Ethan Coen, most notably those in Raising Arizona. These thoughts also serve to illustrate just how wrong this production was in casting an array of actors who can't seem to get on the same page with their total bullshit "Southern" accents.
The world of this movie…
