This year is the 25th anniversary of Batman & Robin and I can't wait for the Twitter retrospective and inevitable Clooney interview where he's finally nice about this because actually this was culture and all of you will realize what FOOLS you've been when society decides this movie is good actually

Ps someone please push me in the vat of confidence Pamela Isley emerged from

Maybe two of the jokes in this movie are aimed at children, and you know what, GOOD, fuck ‘em!

I'm tempted to rate it even higher, if only because SPACE JAM 2 convinced me it was impossible to make a good ROGER RABBIT style IP mash-up in the current studio landscape, but this totally pulls it off. Incredible voice cast, strong emotional core, great jokes, imaginative visual gags, and... feels like a real movie? I will never bet against Akiva Schaffer and even so I only watched because I'm home sick. Really glad I did.

Also Tim Robinson is in this going full Tim Robinson and it's incredible.

Gorgeous. A concert of endless bangers intercut with street interviews and what amounts to a full Richard Pryor special. Left me with only the most banal thoughts about the country not fit for print. Basically all the bad stuff is the same!

Ezra Pound said music atrophies when it departs too far from the dance. Look, keep in mind every reputable music criticism site reads like John Doe’s notebooks to me, but this probably is the best music there ever was. Rufus Thomas’s crowd work was killing me. Not knowing the lineup made Black Moses’s entrance truly thrilling.

I got to meet one of my filmmaking idols last night and it was everything I could have ever hoped for. This was my final question of the evening:

In a recent study, 52% of males and 48% of women say they are massively disappointed in their sex lives. This number has been growing since the early 2000’s, which happens to coincide with your sabbatical from filmmaking. Do you think there’s a correlation?

    Adrian's answer: "Yes."
