Revisiting it today, the relative primitivity of the rendering is shocking. But if you can focus past that, the original artistry is still evident, and you’re reminded that Pixar was never satisfied with just technical wizardry. Still the story is mostly a bore that elevates itself temporarily in the run up to the climax, but soon settles back into triteness.
