There is actually no crossfire in this movie. But it’s not bad anyway. Its performances are decent all around but Robert Young’s superb nonchalance and Gloria Grahame’s customary bruised radiance stand out. It’s a “message picture” but while the message is heavy handed its delivery is not; Edward Dmytryk’s direction is smooth and self assured.
