Khoi Vinh’s review published on Letterboxd:
Bill Duke and Lawrence Fishburne bring everything they’ve got to this intense, ambitious policier. As a result, the movie is exceptionally well directed—Duke has a master’s eye for blocking and framing—and well acted—Fishburne is a real gravitational force, and he even manages the rare trick of a compelling voice over. But the script is undercooked and inherently ridiculous, with so many plot holes and leaps of logic throughout, culminating in a final, almost cartoonish denouement that undermines the whole affair.
