Khoi Vinh’s review published on Letterboxd:
There are at least two problems with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange. One is that he’s just not that strange; he’s more of a douchebag with a bunch of ill defined super powers that seem more like gestural computing than the invocation of magic. And two: he’s just not that likable, and not even in the caddish way that Robert Downey Jr. was as Tony Stark. Rather, he’s just arrogant and glib and not particularly convincing in his emotional inner life. Basically he’s not a lot of fun to spend two hours with, especially if the two hours is torturously clichéd and tediously full of epic battles that seems flimsy and inconsequential, and that just invariably lead to the same outcomes we expected in the first place. We don’t need any more of these awful MCU movies.
