At first I thought this could be kind of interesting but as I watched it I kept thinking, “Who is this for?” Was there really a marketing plan that postulated a market of tweens who had outgrown the TV show and who were yearning for it to be reimagined as a cheap “Raiders of the Lost Ark” knockoff? Likely what happened was that the producers got ahead of themselves when they casted Isabela Moner as the teenage Dora. She is truly terrific but even her enthusiasm can’t save the limp script and painfully self-aware humor.
