For a movie that’s all about chaos and lawlessness, I was struck by how quiet and actually calm the action is. There is violence for sure, but lots of mood building and almost contemplative surveying of the wreckage of New York. It’s all just so marvelously composed too; its world seems complete and fully rationalized and also a hell of a lot of fun to revisit over and over.
