It took me ten years to watch this a second time, and to “get it.” For whatever reason, I found this movie to be quite tedious the first time around but now a decade later, it strikes me as a lot funnier. I'm still not sure it's as worthy of all the praise and affection that it gets—the running time could stand a bit of a haircut. Nevertheless, the craftsmanship, care and, most of all, the passion for the adventure movies it pays tribute to, now make sense to me.
