Heedless and morally vacant but also a kind of minor masterpiece. Director Augustine Frizzell paints a deep Texas backdrop full of sketchy comedic types that she allows to be rendered with pitch perfect accuracy by the supporting players. That would’ve been impressive on its own but her two leads deliver stunningly believable performances that elevate the film to another level. Incredibly impressive.
