Nocturnal Animals

Nocturnal Animals ★½

There's a genuine storyteller in Tom Ford but that instinct is so caught up in absurd conceits and fixated on surfaces and poses that it's suffocating. In the end this movie is mostly an exercise in vulgarity—the vulgarity of trying on the horrors of rape, abortion, revenge and cancer just for their aesthetic pleasures. Like "A Single Man" before it, this follow up is little more than high priced trash.
