Old Henry

Old Henry ★½

I’m happy to watch Tim Blake Nelson for 95 minutes but he’s swimming upstream here. Most of the rest of the cast are varying degrees of way less capable than him, especially Gavin Lewis, the young buck who plays his son—a thanklessly under written role that Lewis hasn’t nearly got the chops to make anything meaningful from. The third act is also a groaner, replete with a shootout staged with so little conviction it seems like no one wanted to actually film it, and a twisty revelation that made me want to throw my popcorn at the screen, except I was at home and hadn’t microwaved any.
