Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 2016
I’m not sure this movie gets better with each viewing, but I find I appreciate it more and more each time. The emotional conflicts are unusually sophisticated for the Star Wars universe, and the way they’re communicated in dialogue is deft. The characters are quite likable too: Jyn, Cassian and especially K-2SO seem more dimensional than just about any of the replacements for Luke, Leia and Han that Lucasfilm has tried to foist upon us over the past several decades. I’d certainly take them any day over Rey, Finn and Poe, and it's a sign of both brave and short-sighted storytelling that none of them survive this one outing.
In fact, I would go so far to say that the best Star Wars trilogy of all would be: Rogue One, Episode IV and then Episode V. You can toss all the others in the trash compactor.
