Rushmore ★★★★

It had been a long time since I’d seen this and I really didn’t know if it would hold up, but it did. All the Andersonian pieces are here, in germinal form if not fully fleshed out; the deadpan delivery, the symmetrical compositions, the child’s mind navigation of adulthood, the killer needle drops. The characters breathe more completely here too, they make more sense in their world here than in many of his later films.
