I was hoping this would improve with a rewatch but it really didn’t. If anything it fared even more poorly: the CG looked shabbier; the script’s many, interminable speeches felt duller; the acting just felt far more labored than it really should have—even Angus Imrie, a standout as Merlin, is just far less entertaining than the filmmakers think he is. It’s also really hard not to feel disappointed that Cornish turned in such a humdrum feature after the promise of “Attack the Block.”
