Khoi Vinh’s review published on Letterboxd:
Genial and exceedingly pleasant. But it’s so bewildering to me how no one is bothered by the generally blank nature of most Ghibli protagonists. There’s nothing distinctive about Arrietty other than she’s adorable and small. These worlds that the studio conjures up are visually remarkable, but their power would be multiplied many times over if they were inhabited by more than just adorable or formally bizarre character types.
