This is in the mold of countless "mysterious stranger wanders into town" dramas, but done with great savvy. The internal family struggles at the heart feel so authentic and believable, and Signoret's quietly angry performance adds even more depth. Delon is reliable as always, though as ever it’s unclear if he's a really good actor or if he's just really good looking.
