Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo

Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo ★★★

This might be the most Hollywood movie ever made. It’s got everything: a squeaky clean heteronormative backdrop with a closeted studio star at its center; a touristic cultural excursion couched in a flagrantly propagandistic message; empty gestures to peace half-heartedly inserted between paeans to military hardware and fraternity. It’s almost a parody of American cinema, but in a way is a masterpiece of clichés.
