Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri ★★

The prospect of watching Frances McDormand giving no f’s got me into the theater and indeed, it’s a joy ride to see her unrestrained, at the peak of her powers. But it’s not enough to sustain a plot that really has no idea where it’s going, nor piss poor backstories that can muster only wan redemptionfor their characters. Also, we need to talk about Woody Harrelson. He has become such a fixture in our cinema that your regard—or disregard—for him no longer matters. He’s just there. Deal with it.
