Matthew Zinnecker’s review published on Letterboxd:
One of the best films of the year!
Both Blackkklansman and Sorry to bother you have a lot to say about the power of the white voice. While Sorry to Bother You takes a wilder absurdist approach, Spike Lee's Blacckkklansman takes us on a funny, yet brutal real-life story.
All of the acting in this film was on point. John David Washington brings his charm to the film, while Adam Driver gives a more solemn performance as his partner. Only Spike Lee could make this movie as good as it was. Blackkklansman manages to speak its mind about issues of the past and present and not sound too preachy either. The film editing was particularly good in this adventure, it really brought the craziness of the story together.
Expect to see this around Oscar season for best film editing, best picture, best actor (John David Washington), best adapted screenplay (Spike Lee), and best director (Spike Lee).
