Kian’s review published on Letterboxd:
there came a point roughly halfway through suspiria where I completely surrendered myself. although luca guadagnino’s reinterpretation of the 1977 classic is heavy on plot and subtext, my first viewing (of which there will be many more) was an overwhelming sensory experience — a trance, lynchian in feel, kubrickian in design and yet never once feeling like anything other than its own nightmarish entity. drenched in a thick, blood red atmosphere, otherwordly forces genuinely feel at play here, making this surrender almost obligatory for first time viewers. “feel now, reflect later,” it whispers. i’d advise you to listen, as this is one of the most uniquely visceral films in years.
