I adore this sad, lonely, kind-hearted film. Vincent is a vein of cold white death streaking from point to point across L.A., uncaring, unconcerned, yet with an odd philosophical manner. He's impenetrable not because he's made of stone but because he's something like a rockfall. Heavy, sudden, heartless. Despite this he doesn't defy understanding. There's simply not much to understand.

Max meanwhile is a mine of information and person-hood and warmth and passion. He's never even considered the nihilistic views…

hits a few good notes (tobey & andrew had something to do with most of them, and I did like that joke foxx made about being careful where you fall) but dear god they need some new guys for that think tank. or to just stop altogether. watching each new marvel addition makes me so appreciative of other films that have real emotional beats and deep connections to important things like love and humanity and artistry, instead of this quippy greenscreen…

stunning. did have to skip some of the flashing lights part because I have sensitivity to that sort of thing, but everything that precedes has a frenetic, sort of sick quality drenched in white rays and grainy bleakness, always looking over or into or through, and beautifully shot and edited. one of the most effective shorts I've seen. watch it on Vimeo here.

I understand if everyone wants to kick my ass for this but this is honestly one of my favourite films of all time. It's one of very few that I can watch over and over again and never grow tired of, even though I'm fully aware that it's severely unrealistic (NASA branded it "absurd") and probably politically questionable too (mainly because, despite continued assertions from certain characters that the act of selling tickets for placement on the arks is inhumane,…
