Before Midnight

Before Midnight ★★★★★

Finally just getting to write about this. Before Midnight is basically perfect. Much like its two predecessors it is comprised of a moment in two peoples' lives as they discuss their views, their love, their ideas, their problems, their friends, their family and more. It's real. It feels like you're with them at all times just listening to their realistic conversations.

Hawke and Delpy are still perfect in these roles. Their expressions and reactions to one another are flawless. I'm not keen on whether or not any of this is improvised but through the three films of this trilogy, I am continually impressed with the lengthy one-take shots and flawless dialogue. While I think as of now that Sunset is my favorite of the three, this is easily a close second and may take the lead with another viewing.

One of the best films of the year, even if you haven't had the chance to see the other two before it.
