So…if this wasn’t based on true events (or, like, interviews or whatever), would most of it not be in slow motion and would it be like half as long? But then wait a second, even so, it’s the recreated interviews where all the drama’s happening. Why not just tell the story entirely through the boys reliving it instead of through annoying, meaningless flashbacks that offer neither any clues nor any subjectivity? Like, maybe direct and trust your cast to tell multiple stories at once through performance? That’s how art works. That’s how art is interesting. This is duller than My Nephew Emmett.
