This movie is far too sympathetic towards the guards and prison administration. It failed to adequately address the prison conditions that led to the riot. For the most part the prisoners are depicted as savage and disorganized. In reality, once the representatives were chosen they worked diplomatically and systematically to negotiate their demands. I wish there was more focus on their efforts to get legal and political assistance from the outside involved in the negotiations. I suppose what I’m asking for is a different movie. It was okay for what it was. Too many missed opportunities to reveal the atrocities of the US prison system.
