The Hitcher 1986
I’m torn over this one. Screenwriter Eric Red is an extremely fucked-up individual who killed two people when he plowed his car, possibly intentionally, into a crowded bar in Los Angeles, then seemingly did everything possible to avoid prosecution or financial liability (see this LA Weekly article from 2006). But it’s hard to deny that this is one terrific horror/thriller and one of the best road thrillers ever made. It’s worth watching, because it’s a hell of a watch, but it’s also…
