Tenet ★★★★½

One viewing of Tenet simply isn't enough. I rewatched it today after 4 days since my initial viewing and I am so glad I did. This time I knew the gist of the story and could soak it in better and appreciate its subtle complexities a whole lot more. I also opted not to go for IMAX this time and found the dialogue a lot more clear without the pulsating (and amazing) score drowning it out.

Tenet is a technical masterpiece; the ultimate peak of what a director can achieve visually if they think without any constraint. You will never see a film that does the things Nolan managed to accomplish here. That alone is worth the price of a ticket - I promise you that.

This time round, I had a much clearer understanding of the whole inversion thing and the stakes that the characters were facing. As a result, the story was far more investing and I connected with it on a deeper level that wasn't just "woah that looks insane".

I understand the complaints made against this movie - particularly about its lack of characterisation. But this is much more of a story driven movie so I was okay with not getting too much from our characters. I really liked them all but I'll acknowledge that Nolan could have done a better job when writing them.

But there are few films that I can call an experience like this one. Despite its flaws I absolutely love this film because it just gives me this feeling that can't be replicated anywhere else.

If you had a similar first viewing to me where you liked it but were also just too overwhelmed by it then I would highly recommend giving it another watch.

Tenet is another awesome movie by Christopher Nolan and I can't wait to see it a third time.
