man I really wish I liked this as much as I thought I would :( I loved the concept, and the trailer made me SO excited to see it!!! unfortunately the whole thing just kinda like....fell flat for me 😞 I thought the acting was amazing—issa rae has INCREDIBLE comedic timing, and I LOVED marsai martin being given the opportunity to shine in such a huge role (she has the range!!)—but as great as their performances were, they couldn’t quite make up for what I felt was such a weak script. it was just like....cheesy in the worst way possible? and relied on way too many cliches I guess? I don’t know! most of it I found funny as hell, but then also there were just SO many parts that made me cringe lmao 😩 anyways I love you regina hall!
