Mitchells vs The Machines heavily takes many elements from Cloudy from a Chance of Meatballs, while also taking some references from the Lego Movie, the Incredibles and Spiderverse.
This made for a story which was honestly pretty obvious. Just based on the trailer you can more or less tell what the big plot beats were going to be. Despite this, it almost created a familiar feeling instead and the end credits also really tied this feeling together. The animation and comedy work well in the line of this movie too and I never felt that a joke felt flat, even if some jokes were better than others.. A very comfy vibe throughout, even though there were still some stressful and emotional moments as well.
(The diversity is also very nice to see, Katie is lesbian-coded throughout the entire movie and it gets confirmed at the very end)
