    Ms. Marvel

    ★½

Well, where should I start? There’s so much crammed into this show, especially a lot of made up stuff that has nothing to do with the Ms. Marvel source material, but based on the first episode I was really digging it. I liked the characters, the family dynamic, the cultural exploration and the artistic style that jumped out. But alas, like most Disney Plus content, it dropped after that first episode and the quality dip was massive.

    I’ve seen a…

    Dark Phoenix

    ★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Damn, this movie is such ass. Save for a few good moments of action, Dark Phoenix is such a waste. Completely butchering the storyline of the Phoenix Saga and shitting all over the X-Men characters, this gets so much wrong. The antagonist is up there for one of the worst movie supervillains of all time and by far a total misrepresentation of the comic material. Once again, I have to blame Days of Future Past for screwing the entire timeline…

  • Deadpool 2

    Deadpool 2

    ★★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

This sequel is just an absolute blast and banger. Deadpool manages to make an even better film than the first, with so many hilarious jokes, jabs at both Marvel and DC, as well as having some great characters appear. The story is very fun and the formation of X-Force is comedically brilliant. Even the end credit sequences are goldmines, garnering some huge laughs from me every single time.

Ryan Fuckin’ Reynolds is an absolute champ, powering through wearing that makeup…

  • Logan

    Logan

    ★★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Logan is a very befitting ending for Wolverine, but a rather disjointed end of the X-Men and Mutants alike. The cast is phenomenal, the story is pretty good and Wolverine’s death is quite tragic. It’s weird they used Donald Pierce as the main antagonist even though he’s originally a Hellfire Club villain, but it worked within the context of the story.

Hugh Jackman delivers an amazing performance, playing a withering Wolverine who’s now retired from the superhero lifestyle and become…

  • My Dinner with Andre

    My Dinner with Andre

    ★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

There’s something very interesting about My Dinner with André as the film explores the meaning of life and happiness or misery and suffrage. While there are some amazing points to be made, especially from André, I found that Wallace Shawn didn’t contribute to the conversation as much as I wanted him to. André discusses a lot about his lifestyle, his trips to discover himself and the things that eat him up inside, but there’s not enough dialogue about Wallace’s struggles,…

    X-Men: Apocalypse

    ★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

It’s a real shame that this movie got fucked over so badly by the poor decisions made from Days of Future Past. I honestly really like the plot of Apocalypse and having the Horseman characters help him try to take over the world, but the previous film botched Professor X and Mystique so fucking badly that they now are on some really dumb paths in this. With some amazing casting, X-Men: Apocalypse had potential to be something decent, but Fox…

    Deadpool

    ★★★★

Thank goodness for Ryan Reynolds. Coming in clutch, he just fits the bill as Deadpool, springing the character straight from the comic book and onto the screen. The jokes in this are dark and hilarious, perfectly encapsulating the titular character while also shoving in so many pop culture references, random obsessions and a great romantic pairing.

Ryan Reynolds was honestly fantastic as Wade Wilson pre Weapon XI in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so I’m glad he was able to return to…

  • X-Men: Days of Future Past

    X-Men: Days of Future Past

    ★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Even though the X-Men movie timeline was muddled before this, Days of Future Past really fucked up the entire franchise by sending Wolverine back in time and changing the past. It’s cool to see the past actors interact with the present actors, but there’s some seriously dumb shit in this movie that keeps me from enjoying it. It’s a decent film, but it’s just not at all good in the sense it should be.

Taking inspiration from the comic source,…

    The Wolverine

    ★★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Even though this is one of my favorite Wolverine stories, I still have my issues with it. There’s a fantastic storyline and the central setting of Japan makes me feel quite interested in it’s characters. The Wolverine manages to adapt several characters, some of which are not entirely faithful to their comic counterparts, but nonetheless, still remain pretty cool characters for the movie itself.

Hugh Jackman continues to be a perfect casting for Wolverine, this time around he’s battling with…

This may be one of the strangest theater experiences I have ever had. Already seated, a very heavyset man took his seat down next to me and seemed to be extremely enthusiastic about this. I was only attending this movie to watch it with my nieces, so I wasn’t entirely interested in this, especially from the trailers I’ve seen.

Anyways, about maybe ten or fifteen minutes into the film, they start showing all the Justice League characters which featured Jessica…

    X-Men: First Class

    ★★★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

By far my favorite X-Men film that we have gotten thus far. It’s almost flawless really, but still not without some minor grievances. Despite the small stuff, this movie is just exceptional, bringing forth incredible writing - especially that of Magneto’s backstory and making him such a formidable, tragic antagonist to come. From the soundtrack’s music to the incredible costume design on display, First Class is a perfect origin story that befits the X-Men title.

    The cast, down to everyone,…

    Jagged Edge

    ★★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I thought this was a very good thriller with competent characters, intriguing court scenes and a story that unfurls into the ending. I didn’t particularly care much for Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close’s characters being romantically involved on a level of genre interest, but what made it pretty good was how it was all an act to seduce her into winning the case for him. There was an amazing amount of effort dedicated to making sure the killer could have…
