Looks like another movie I can add to my growing list of “alternative” holiday movies! Wouldn’t the family love watching this together?
I’m pleased to have discovered that this holds up quite well. Wes Anderson is one heck of a master at making strange dialogue and characters still feel grounded. Suzy and Sam are an odd couple, sure, but the film never looks down on them for their social ineptitude; the pure relationship they share is one that anchors the whole community of this movie’s world with an aim for positive growth.
