  While I have championed Eggers’ historical prowess in the past, having loved the atmosphere of his previous two efforts, this one felt a little clumsy. I think part of this clunkiness and lack of atmosphere comes from the directors abilities to transform a singular location over the course of a story, whereas this film’s elliptical structure moves too quickly to build an environment akin to The Lighthouse or The VVitch. The dream sequences hindered rather then enhancing, feeling like disjointed and…
