One of my closest friends passed away yesterday and it just crushes me to not be able to talk movies, books, comics, TV or anything else with him. We met in a creative writing class in college and hit it off immediately. We never argued or fought but we did disagree on one thing in particular: whether this was a good movie or not.
I didn't care for it when I saw it as a kid and never bothered to revisit it when Raiders and Last Crusade were always readily available. Yesterday I was told my good friend had passed away and today I turned on the TV and this was just beginning. He was a fan of this so it seemed a very appropriate time to give it another watch.
Not nearly as good as the best Indiana adventures but quite the goofy and thrilling spectacle. It's one huge set piece after another with some incredibly fun action and stunt work. I should revisit this more often and it will always remind me of my dear friend Eric.
