Despite some decent performances, there is virtually no tension or conflict in this film. I get that they were trying to buck the 'girls-vs-girls' trope from the original. However, the new antagonist introduced here is underdeveloped, and nearly all the 'action' in the film occurs in the last 10-15 minutes. As a result, it's a pretty 'nothing' movie with very low stakes and energy. The main characters are also superficial and one-dimensional (we learn basically nothing about them as individuals).…
