Plus one star for wacky psychedelic nudity, minus one star for being a movie about making movies.
I love this weird movie, but it’ll be awhile before I watch it again. It reminded me of Repo Man more than anything else, but it had the sense of humor you can find in skits in between songs on Coup albums. There’s a shot that is one of the most jaw dropping surprising things I’ve ever seen in a movie. Anyone that complains that new movies are all out of ideas is a grouch and will shit themselves to death while watching a Richard Linklater 70s movie.
I kind of think Lords of Salem is as close to the original Suspiria as this is. If you asked me what I would change about the original Suspiria I would say “more dancing” and “better characters,” and that’s what we get in this remake.
