    Scorsese is a badass, and even the early work has beautiful moments of nostalgia, drama and charm. While there is plot, the time and place of each scene is not always done in a way that concretely sets the audience expectation or moves the story forward.     Impressive, and gorgeous to look at without a doubt. The sense of history present in setting and dialogue was fabulous, and what really struck me was the classicism of the Neptune-like poses in a couple choice scenes. Combined with the deeply rich and contrasted B&W cinematography, this was a joy to watch.
