My favorite musical so far. I just got a cat, my first pet ever, and he is absolutely beautiful so I needed a film to compliment that feeling. This movie is like a classical ballet, a beautiful piece of theater, a Louis Vuitton show, a jazz concert, and a beautiful film all wrapped in one. Clearly inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Singing in the Rain but with class and beauty only achievable by the French.

    Pure beauty.

A lesser “Love Exposure.” I look forward to watching Whispering Star which is supposed to be way different. Still really like his aesthetic though. Maybe the most auteurial director working today that I’ve seen, outside of Wes Anderson.

Why do I even watch anything other than Frebch New Wave?

I tried so hard to write a review for this, my second viewing of La Notte, but of course I came up short. Nothing I could write could do it justice. Maybe one day when I am really old, because I think that’s the only way to fully understand this film. But even as young as I am I can tell you that it has everything.

    Masterpiece.
