In many ways one of the most human movies I've seen. A great take on what it really means to be a family and all the things that hold us together.
Allow me the comparison, but this felt like a live-action version of what would be a great slice of life anime. I've always been quite fond of movies that focus primarily on their characters, what's said and even more what isn't said.
I wish more people would give foreign movies a chance, they're missing some of the best stuff out there.

This mess is barely worth a review, honestly. Some of the premise could've been used in a really clever way to critique "philantropist" billionaires or going even deeper; instead it's a product placement-ridden, rich people trying to "help" out of the goodness of their hearts, racist, sexist, badly shot, written and edited Michael Bay extravaganza.
The co-opting of revolutionary imagery, the lack of care for human life in a really off-putting way that's portrayed during deaths or outbursts of violence…

Sure, the setting is dystopian but the story is ever-present. I cannot fucking wait for the engine to die or for us to finally make our way to the front and tear the whole thing apart.
Not exactly an exercise in subtlety but not everything has to be subtle. Some things have to be called out.

Oh fuckin' hell, they did it again. What an insane ride. I can't get enough of the perfectly choreographed action, wonderful set-pieces and beautiful colours.
My favourite of the three so far and probably my favourite action movie after Fury Road.

Improves upon its predecessor in basically every part. The dynamic of the two sisters is among the strongest parts, as are the visuals and, surprisingly, the humor. Some of those references, innuendos and dialogues are just really fun.
The weakest part was a rather unsatisfying ending that felt a bit rushed.
I can only imagine how much money this one's gonna make. They'll probably earn enough to break-even with the fire-lizard merch alone.
