Trying to improve upon the ending of a story that's famous enough to adapt is quite a move.

Beautiful, but bizarre not in a good way. Really wanted to like this.

Gaiwan loses his axe to a man who runs away with it on his horse. Cut to: he magically has it again. This felt like either a really obvious mistake or a something that needed an explanation. One example of so many unclear pieces of this film that distracted from the story

Watching episode 9 and remembering today is National Holocaust Remembrance Day. We remember the 11 million people killed by the Nazis, including six million Jewish people. But we should also remember those soldiers who helped liberate the concentration camps and the pain and horror that came from experiencing a traumatic vision of finding and liberating those camps.  We have brave and noble people to thank for getting those prisoners out of the worst imaginable scenario a human can experience. This episode shows this in  beautiful, poignant detail.
