suffocatingly sinister. this film is those dark thoughts that surface in your brain only to be pressed down deeper and deeper. every character teeters the line of humanity and animosity; this film blurs the line between the two. ducournau is so daring it’s hard to believe this is a feature debut. every shot leaves you wondering if you can breathe, and the film as a whole never stops plummeting deeper and deeper into the horrific chasm that is the human condition. instinct has a whole new meaning in raw, begging the question, do we recognize these thoughts in our species, or are we just too scared to look?
