Hungkat’s review published on Letterboxd:
I did it! I finally did it! I’ve now seen 2001 A Space Odyssey. A non-verbal, out-of-body kaleidoscopic experience for the mind, body and soul. The year 2019 is about to approach as the fireworks are loudly booming outside but I am not ready for reality to hit while struggling to let my fantasy of the fragile galaxy leave my brain. For a flash of red, HAL 9000 is looking. 2001 is that abstractly indefinable and a God-tier creation that’s almost too intangible, unearthly yet monolithic, impossible to hold on tight and ultimately too dense to grasp. Man and machine. An odyssey to the new and unknown, with you being zapped instantly into a vortex of celestial colors and cosmological phenomena. Human race revolutionized, through time racing across the vast distances of space into another dimension. Kubrick took us inside his portal, but he then left everyone fumbled in the dark. It is a work of reflection and examination on humankind, birth, advancement, destruction, and rebirth: The Star Child is born, gazing at the universe as New Year is coming. Here I wish you guys all the best for 2019, filled with love and joy during this tender night.
