“I can’t wait to see the new Fast & Furious movie. That looks lit.”
Free frames. Voiceover. Fakery smiles. Jesse Plemons is your everyday narrator. A hodgepodge with different flavors but jarringly mesh together. It's occasionally fascinating yet tonally perplexing, similar to The Big Short, McKay’s so call “artistic” choices make for a real frustrating watch. Absurdly flippant, glib with zero sharpness but frivolity remains behind the exterior of superficiality. Amy Adams is explosive per usual while Christian Bale gives a transformative impression as Dick Cheney. Other than that, I’m afraid I feel nothing because this witless satire never bites. It just barks. No sorry…mumbles.
