Hooptober #2: 5 Films from David Cronenberg, Ti West, Bill Rebane, Charles B. Pierce, William Grefe and/or Joy N. Houck Jr. 1/5

Douglas Sirk’s American Psycho for farm hoes. Super campy and unexpectedly hilarious (luckily watched it with a crowd who were really into it), anchored by Mia Goth’s total commitment to the bit. Hot girls with sharp objects who just want to be loved above all else remains my favorite genre. Damn I am so fucking pumped for Maxxxine.

Like if Sophia Coppola remade Teorema for Adult Swim? Unfortunately I am one of those terrible, horrible cinephiles who hears that description and says, “I’m listening…”

If you love “beautiful woman covered in blood holding a dagger” then you’ll also love “beautiful woman in a blue dress gets too into choosing violence.” She could’ve just bought a pumice stone to take care of those foot calluses, no need to make the hot vampire turn you to achieve soft dainty feet.

My last rewatch was maybe five or six years ago, well past the point when I began sublimating intrusive disturbing thoughts into consuming sicko movies.…

    Or, Mulholland Hard Drive.

Hard to believe this didn't share any creative staff with Evangelion, but I guess there was something in the atmosphere of the late nineties/post-Eva that kept churning out top tier shit. This is absolutely one of them,

Fun fact, I was halfway through this when I got an email inquiring about doing a peer-review of an article on Lain. I have never been more excited to read a fucking draft bitch.
