Great way to start off the (de facto) Halloween season! This has been on my list for some time and makes a befitting start to hooptober.

This film was great. I feel like if I were 16 in 1981, this would have kept me up at night. Not necessarily the same type of "scary" we have in modern horror, but still very unsettling and creative. I think that when you compare movies like this to ones that are gore-y for…

IMO, one of Brendan Fraser's most underrated films. Is it breaking any barriers? Is it reinventing the genre? No, but it is a genuinely entertaining movie with a good message and solid performances. Joe Pesci and Brendan Fraser have great chemistry, and the story is good enough to keep me watching despite the fact that the version of this movie I watched was like 4 pixels in resolution

That pretty much puts the nail in the coffin on sofia coppola for me. I’ve never liked her as a director and this film is a great example of her mediocrity.

The shot composition is so bland. The colors are way off. The costuming and almost every visual element is terrible. I think the only thing she does right in her other films (LIT and Marie Antoinette namely) is completely absent here. Characters are wholly undeveloped, miscast, and unlikeable.

Love my boyfriend because he is the only one willing to watch this with me on Valentine’s Day. <3

Turns out it was a bad choice, lol.

    Hooptober 6-6-6: Film #10

Joker wants what this has. A very poignant and moving story that exceeded my expectations of what a silent film can do. I guess I missed the horror mark picking this for hooptober, but in all honesty, what could be more scary than a man with this sort of life. He really does get slapped.

BARELY any free time recently. Usually I can crank out a film every other day, but this is the only one I've been able to see this week.

Anyways, what to say about this film. First off, it's amazing, bar none. The cinematography and mise en scene were like something I haven't seen since the universal classic era. I knew what to expect from Dafoe - but Robert Pattinson! WOW! He gave an amazing performance. Both were perfect choices and…
