Remember when King Kong was popular? As expected, not a single millennial felt one goosebump anywhere on his or her body.
That's okay though! Because if you like action, thrills, Samuel L. Jackson breaking the rules, and John C. Reilly playing John C. Reilly back in the 70s, Kong: Skull Island delivers on all accounts. Before you start feeling nostalgic about King Kong, baby boomers and Gen Xers, remember this: you are entering Skull Island, where Kong is not the only inhabitant. You are paying for Jurassic Park 3 meets Apocalypse Now. There are no subtleties, little character development, and pure monster movie mayhem. The look and feel of the movie is very retro and hip, with really photogenic leads in Tom HIddleston and Brie Larson. Time to lick the popcorn butter!
