    -I was constantly trying to think about how to bring the exposition sequence successfully to a modern audience.  The typical attention span simply won’t have it these days.  Receiving it in piece-meal throughout the first act (sans narration) may engage even more.

    -The shot of the mummy coming through the window is so terrifying to me.  Just the essence of such a rampant invasion, perhaps, is enough to make me sit up a little straighter.

    -Nothing but pans and Dutch angles in sight.  The whole movie feels sideways…because it literally is.

    -Thinking about the timeline of what transpired in just 28 days leaves me dealing.  Boyle tells so much of that story through showing us the physical and emotional aftermath.  The scale of that aftermath is expertly shown numerous times.

    -Garland doesn’t shy away from getting incredibly specific with our survivors’ circumstances.  Some truly tragic/traumatic “lightning strike” moments really drive the story forward.
