I spent the afternoon processing everything I watched and gained from this... honestly sat in silence for a bit and let it all sink in.
Everything I wanted to say about the film is already out there. That said...
I lost my Mom to cancer at nine years old. I remember knowing and accepting that time was and is finite then. Moments are captured in memory, and memory can only do so much as time goes on. But we remember…
Insanely gritty and darker than I had anticipated.
Great unreliable narrator/editing choices.
Yet.....utterly pretentious. And portrayal of mental health?? AND we still can't get past an origin story for Batman...Dang.
It's a solid film, though. Probably a one time watcher.
Edit: Admit it...you're only giving the movie 5 stars because of Joaquin Phoenix...
Firstly, I am forever thankful and appreciative for the craft of filmmaking, and it's explosive power to share, break down, and enhance humanity. It's a medium of endless exploration.
I can't say much about this one. I almost don't want to give it five stars simply because. The only thing I've got is... original movies exist. They're out there, and we have nothing to fear. I'm glad we can explore more every day.
