  • Midsommar

hi!! sorry for the inactivity but i wanted to say that I’m leaving this account due to lack of enjoyment and constant harassment and stalking. it’s not fun to be on letterboxd or writing reviews so i don’t see a point on this account though i created another account so i can take lb less serious and have a smaller group of mutals! :)

  • Hereditary

I felt compelled to write a (serious) review after impulse buying the Hereditary Screenplay Book off A24.

In total retrospect, Midsommar is better than Heredity in every category (with the exception of acting). And that's not an insult; Hereditary created a fresh wave of horror, paving the way for new 'indie' directors but failed to be as exciting or enjoyable as Midsommar

There are some discrepancies and some uneven performances between the actors and production but as it's Aster's 'premiere',…

    Pulp Fiction

One question, why did we let film-bros possess Pulp Fiction? Because they do not deserve this movie or to be recognised for it. I will gladly be called a film-bro because Pulp Fiction is extraordinary in every way, ever.

It's an edgy film that is essentially about nothing other than what it feels like to be in this situation; it concentrates on philosophy and ideology in a non-linear storytelling way that appears like a black comedy.

    The beauty of Pulp…

    The Social Network

Because of the amount of hate I got in my last review of The Social Network, I decided to give it another go!

And still... nothing changed. Pointless dialogue, poor pacing and overall very confusing? I still don't understand the drastic change or why he craved Timberlake's validation to that extent. What's up with two Armie Hammers'? How did he get someone in Rooney Mara's league? And why is he such a dickhead?

Is this even a true story? Did…

    Black Swan

black swan is a cinematic triumph, a film so self-destructive yet beautifully achieved, it's a study of impracticable contradictions mixed with psychosis and obsession, which aronofsky portrayed perfectly.

what i love most about aronofsky's work is that it always starts a bigger conversation, a bigger debate. he could make the most simple film but we'd be walking out with all different opinions. with every film he directs, there's always an emphasis on characterisation

natalie was exceptional, it's by far her…

    Perfect Blue

perfect blue is a work of such subtle nuance and dreamlike ambience; it transcends the limitations of anime and animation in general.

it's absurd how relevant perfect blue is in today's society, even 20+ years later. parasocial relationships are only getting worse, disney/nickelodeon stars (mostly women) are getting sexualised, degraded and forced into "changing their image" by doing pornography. i don't think kon's goal of perfect blue was to be political, but it does reflect on the societal norms we place…
