  I’m admittedly not a huge fan of Baz Luhrmann. I have never enjoyed his previous work and it’s mostly because he constantly takes me out of what he’s doing with his stylistic choices. I can agree that he’s bold, but he usually isn’t my yum and that’s okay. That being said this is my favorite of his work. Austin Butler is phenomenal. The performance sequences are perfect.   If there was one criticism of M. Night Shyamalan that I believe to be true it’s that he sometimes gives the audience too much of what they want and not enough of what they need. I can’t even fault him for it.
